The Raya Chronology
8 September
It’s Wednesday and I was still working eventhough raya is 2 days ahead. Not many colleagues around the office on that day as they already off to kampong due to school holiday that starts that week. I was so on the mood of raya, plus the lagu raya blew my soul and mind away, only body’s there. Later on the afternoon, I had much suffered of this raya sickness that results me to take half day and head down to Putrajaya to meet Masnur as we planned to go back home together. I reached there at 2 pm, Masnur fetched me from nearby ERL station. We were waiting for Afiqah to settle her matter before we could leave to our beloved hometown. Eventually we start our journey ‘balik kampung’ only at 5.30 pm. The journey was lovely and the moment where we stop at the emergency lane for breaking fast, together with the rest of musafirs on the road that also stop on that time will be remembered as remarkable moment. Peace to the world.
9 September
Woke up late and was hurry to Ipoh with Rose, Adik, Eka and Bonnie. Our first stop was Greentown Mall where Rose bought baju raya for herself and the rest of us bought some accessories. Later, we went to Ariani where I got my tudung raya and Adik shopped his baju raya at boutique that next to Ariani. The shopping spree took all day long and the last stop was Bazaar Ramadhan. The raya special dishes such rendang daging, lemang were already cooked by my dad, ayah ngah and mak nyah. I went to bed early that night due to restless day, I missed out the raya eve. Sob sob..

Today is Aidilfitri. I woke up late again, I missed my raya prayer..haiyoo..It was kinda rushing that morning where we need to clean the house all over again, this time according to my aunt’s standard, as for me, the house were already cleaned and ready to welcome the guest for hari raya. I could only get ready with my new baju raya at 10 am. After asking forgiveness from family and family photo session, we visited gradpa’s grave. At noon, Adik and I went to Beruas to visit family on my mom’s side, also we visited mother’s grave. We had such happy time during raya where we shared all laughs and happiness together. I felt the love, warm and cherish, blessed with such a huge family. Later that evening, we convoyed together, went to visit our relatives that we had not seen and kept in touch for many years. I miss the moment, xoxo.
11 September
It was second day of raya, on that day, mak yang and wah cooked nasi ayam. A’a was in charged in frying the marinated chicken. Surprisingly he was a good kitchen helper besides his perfectionist behavior. The nasi ayam was marvelous and I did eat it 2 times. We did not go anywhere on second raya, we stayed in the house and waited for relatives to come visit us. In the afternoon, we were watching ‘duyung’ movie on TV and felt asleep in the living room. Later, we drove to ayer tawar to get a cooking gas and bought some chicken for our meal that night. The very funny thing that happened on that day was, my granny got panicked as the cooking gas was empty, and we were rushing to get a cooking gas. We had to travel from town to town to find store that sell cooking gasses. Got to tell you that Beruas town was like a cowboy town during raya, hardly to see the store was opened during raya. All were shut down eventhough the store owner are Chinese or Indian.
12 September
Third day of raya. All of us went to Ipoh to welcome a new member of our family. Our beloved auntie was just gave a birth to daughter name Raja Hajar at Al Ridzuan Maternity Centre. The baby and mommy looked healthy. Later that evening, me and adik went back to Batu Gajah to continue celebrate raya with my family on my dad’s side. Nothing to be said about raya celebration on my dad’s side. The day was beautiful but sometimes people just love to mess around and spill the beans. This special day leave us with no moment to be cherished.
